Kawauchi Campus
Open to the Public

Based on the Tohoku University's principle of 'Open Doors',
our campuses are opened to the public.
Please enjoy the campus with Library, Hagi Hall, Botanical Gardens,
cafeteria, shops, and many activities.

Tohoku University Main Library provides a variety of resources and services to support research and learning.
Also, the various collection of books which the library possesses are displayed in the entrance hall with interesting themes.

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of 2007, Kawauchi Memorial Auditorium & Matsushita Memorial Hall (built in the the 50th anniversary, 1957) were repaired as the Tohoku University Centennial Hall (Kawauchi Hagi Hall).
This hall has rich acoustics good for music concert and lecture meeting both. So many various concerts and international conferences are held.
On the first floor, there is exhibition space (Japanese only) about nature and history of Kawauchi Campus.
In 2008, this architecture won the award for excellence of the public building prize that Public Building Association hosted .

This hall is the entrance of Tohoku University Botanical Gardens on the Kawauchi Campus side.
In the exhibition space, you can learn about the ecosystem of natural monument "Aobayama" and various plants, insects.

The Nishizawa Memorial Room is located at the old Research Institute for Semiconductors where Jun-ichi Nishizawa, the former president of Tohoku University, had developed technologies for semiconductor materials. The memorial room preserves and exhibits materials associated with the birthplace of Optical Communications to share with the public and to contribute to future educational research.

Nishizawa Memorial Room

This is main welfare facility in Kawauchi North Campus.
There are cafeteria 'Kawauchi no Mori Dining', 'Kitchen Terrace Couleur' (curry, noodles, etc.), cafe 'bush clover cafe' and University Co-op shop, Travel Co-op (travel agency).

Maple Park Kawauchi is a welfare facility in Kawauchi South Campus. It includes University Co-op shop, cafeteria and cafe.
